If you have not filed your income tax return yet, then submit it soon. Its last date is 31st December. After that you may have to pay a fine. There are four other important works including IT returns, whose last date is December 31. There are only seven days left to settle them.
IT Returns
The last date for filing income tax returns for the financial year 2020-21 has already been extended twice due to technical difficulties on the new income tax portal and due to corona virus . The Income Tax Department has extended it for the third time till December 31. The department has advised not to wait till the last date and submit the return as soon as possible. Submission after that will attract a penalty.
Link pf account with Aadhaar
The last date for linking Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) account with Aadhaar card and registering nominee’s name is also December 31. Linking of EPF account (UAN) with Aadhaar is mandatory. If the account holders do not do this then they may have to face problems.
Submit life certificate for pension
Pensioners retired from government service have to submit life certificate once in a year before 30 November. This year its last date has been extended till December 31. If the certificate is not submitted by the last date, pension can be stopped.
Get KYC done for demat-trading account
SEBI has extended the last date for conducting KYC of demat and trading accounts from 30 September to 31 December 2021. Under KYC, information like name, address, PAN card number, current mobile number, age, correct email id have to be updated. Failure to do KYC may result in account closure.
