The NSO report is based on the data of new subscribers joining the schemes of ESIC, EPFO and PFRDA.
New Delhi. In July this year, 13.21 lakh new members joined the Social Security Scheme of Employees’ State Insurance Corporation i.e. ESIC (Employees’ State Insurance Corporation). Earlier in June, 10.58 lakh members were connected. This information was given in the official data released on Friday, which broadly describes the employment situation in the organized sector of the country. The latest data is part of the report of the National Statistical Office (NSO).
According to the data, in aggregate, 10.72 lakh new members were added to the ESIC scheme in April, 8.87 lakh in May and 10.58 lakh in June. It states that since the relaxation of restrictions imposed at the state level to prevent the second wave of the corona virus epidemic, the number of members joining the schemes has increased i.e. new people are getting employment on regular wages.
The total number of new members joining ESIC in 2020-21 is
1.15 crore. 1.49 crore in During September 2017 to March 2018, about 83.35 lakh new members had joined the ESIC scheme. According to the report, the number of members joining ESIC during September 2017 to July 2021 was 5.42 crore.
The NSO report is based on the data of new subscribers joining the schemes of ESIC, Employee Provident Fund Organization or EPFO and Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA).
EPFO added 14.65 lakh new subscribers in July
According to the report, 14.65 lakh new subscribers were added to EPFO in July. This is higher than 11.16 lakh as of June 2021. It said that during September 2017 to February 2021, about 4.51 crore (gross) new subscribers joined the EPFO scheme.
