Actually, the Central Government had increased the dearness allowance (7th Pay Commission) by 11 percent in July 2021, after which the DA was increased twice, but the employees were not given arrears during this period, so the DA from January 2020 to June 2021 Arrears are outstanding, on which decision is to be taken. Several meetings have been held with the Central Government of the Employees and Pensioners’ Organization regarding this and still the round of discussion is going on. On one hand, the pensioners organization has written a letter to PM Narendra Modi, citing the huge amount of arrears, appealing to solve it. The same employee organization has also suggested the government to make a negotiated settlement.
According to media reports, in view of the ever-increasing pressure and the demand of the employees, the Modi government can take a decision on DA arrears. Under this, one and a half lakh rupees can be given as a one-time installment by not paying two lakhs at a time. If this happens, then 52 lakh central government employees and more than 65 lakh pensioners will get the benefit. The employees will get the money of DA arrears according to their salary band. If the government pays, then in the month of August or September, the outstanding DA arrears i.e. 11 percent of the increased DA money can be transferred to the account.
18 months DA arrear Calculation
- Shivgopal Mishra of the National Council of JCM says that the DA arrears of Level-1 employees range from Rs 11,880 to Rs 37,554.
- If calculated for Level-13 (7th CPC basic pay scale Rs. 1,23,100 to Rs. 2,15,900) or Level-14 (pay-scale), dearness allowance arrears in the hands of an employee is Rs. 1,44,200 to 2 Rs 18,200 will be paid.
- If the employee’s basic salary is Rs 18,000, he can get arrears of DA for 3 months (4,320+3,240+4,320) = Rs 11,880.
- If the basic salary of the employee is Rs 56,000 he will get DA arrear of 3 months (13,656 + 10,242 + 13,656) = Rs 37,554.
- The DA arrears of Level-1 employees ranges from Rs 11,880 to Rs 37,554.
- Level-13 (7th CPC Basic Pay Scale Rs. 1,23,100 to Rs. 2,15,900).
- For Level-14 (Pay-Scale) DA arrears range from Rs. 1,44,200 to Rs. 2,18,200.
