new Delhi. In Chhattisgarh, called Paddy Bowl, the last date for crop insurance for the Kharif season -2020 has been set as July 15. According to the Union Agriculture Ministry, under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, irrigated and non-irrigated paddy, maize, soybean, groundnut, tur (arhar), moong and urad are the major crops this year. The central government has appealed to the farmers to get insurance to avoid the risk of farming from natural disasters.
For this, two insurance companies have been given work. Who will do the work of Crop Insurance in different districts.
Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited: In the districts where this company will insure, Rajnandgaon, Surguja, Mungeli, Kondagaon, Narayanpur, Bemetra, Balodabazar, Durg, Korba, Balod, Korea, Mahasamund, Dhamtari, Kanker, Raigad, Dantewada, Surajpur, Janjagri – Champa, Sukma and Gariabad.

Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company: This company will insure in Jaspur, Balrampur, Bastar, Bijapur, Bilaspur, Raipur, Kabirdham and Gorela-Pendra-Marwahi districts.
What are the risks to be paid in the crop insurance scheme: According to the Ministry of Agriculture, under the scheme, damages are paid by assessing farm-wise losses due to hail, land loss, water logging, cloudburst and damage from natural fire. Let us tell you that in the event of damage to crops in natural calamity, the central government started the very ambitious ‘Pradhan Mantri Crop Insurance Scheme’ in February 2016 to compensate farmers.
How much premium has to be paid: 2% premium is paid for Kharif crop and 1.5% premium for Rabi crop. The PMFBY scheme also provides insurance cover for commercial and horticultural crops. In this, farmers have to pay 5% premium.
In order to take advantage of these documents, a photo of the farmer, ID card, address proof, field, measles number, proof of crop in the field has to be provided.
Farmers were benefited here: According to an official of the Union Ministry of Agriculture, in 2018-19, 15.704 lakh farmers in Chhattisgarh had crop insurance of 22.746 hectares. 161.101 crore was given as a premium by the farmers. While insurance claims worth Rs 1,066 crore were paid. Both the state and central governments paid a premium of Rs 364-364 crore on behalf of the farmers.
