Big news has come for the government employees today because the government has announced this. Government employees will now get 3 months arrears and 42% DA along with salary.
In the month of March, the central government had increased the dearness allowance (DA) of central employees. The Department of Expenditure of the Ministry of Finance has also approved the increase in DA in April. That is, now central employees will get DA at the rate of 42 percent.
The government has increased DA and DR by four percent for the first half January to June 2023. Due to this, now it has increased from 38 percent to 42 percent. The government has said that this increase will be applicable from January 1, 2023. After the Centre, many state governments have also increased the DA of their employees.
Lakhs of employees will get benefit
Due to implementation from January 2023, central employees will also get arrears of three months. This decision will benefit about 47.58 lakh central government employees and 69.76 lakh pensioners. This increase in DA has been done after the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission. This will increase the financial burden of Rs 12,815 crore annually on the government. The government increases the DA of the employees every 6 months.
State governments also increased DA
In the last few days, states like Assam, Rajasthan and Jharkhand have also increased DA by four percent. Apart from this, the government of Goa has also increased DA and DR. The government of Goa has increased the DA of government employees to 42 percent. This hike will be applicable from January 1 and will be paid in April. The government of Goa has increased the DA by four percent, due to which it has increased from 38 percent to 42 percent.
Jharkhand and Rajasthan government also increased
The government of Jharkhand has also increased DA and DR by four percent. After the Central Government increased the DA, the Government of Rajasthan also increased the DA. CM Ashok Gehlot’s government has increased the DA and DR of employees and pensioners by four percent. After this DA has increased from 38 percent to 42 percent. Eight lakh employees and four lakh pensioners will get the benefit of this increase.
How is the calculation done?
In view of the inflation rate, the central government increases the DA of the employees. Higher the inflation, higher is the increase in DA. The Labor Bureau calculates dearness allowance and dearness relief for employees and pensioners. It is calculated on the basis of Consumer Price Index (CPI-IW).
How much will the salary increase?
After the four percent increase in DA, let us also understand the increase in the salary of the employees. Suppose the basic pay of a central employee is Rs 18,000. If we look at 38 percent, then DA becomes Rs 6,840. On the other hand, if we look at 42 per cent, then it will become Rs 7,560. That means there will be an increase of Rs 720 in the salary of the employee.
