State Bank of India (SBI) has launched Video Life Certificate (VLC) facility for pensioners. The bank said in a statement that this facility has been introduced with the aim of providing seamless life certificate submission experience to lakhs of pensioners (other than family pensioners).
This new facility launched today will allow pensioners to submit their life certificates through video from their homes. According to the press release issued by SBI, this facility is available for pensioners (other than family pensioners). Thus, the spouse of a pensioner receiving pension from the Government will not be able to use this facility. According to SBI, the process of video life certificate is paperless.
SBI said that with the help of VLC facility, pensioners can schedule video calls with SBI employees at their convenience and complete the process of submission of life certificates without visiting the bank branch. State Bank of India (SBI) has today launched Video Life Certificate service for pensioners.
SBI Video Life Certificate Submission Process
Pensioners can log on to www.pensionseva.sbi and enter their SBI Pension Account Number by clicking on Video LC. They have to submit the OTP received on their registered mobile numbers. Once they have read the terms and conditions, they can click on ‘Start Journey’. Pensioners will have to keep their original PAN card, click on ‘I am ready’ and give permission to initiate the video call.
Commenting on the launch of this initiative, Dinesh Khara, Chairman, SBI said, “We are delighted to launch yet another strategic customer centric initiative exclusively for the benefit of senior citizens. We believe that this facility will digitally empower pensioners and enable them to submit their life certificates without the hassle of visiting the branch amid COVID-19. At SBI, we are continuously working towards providing an added layer of convenience and comfort to all our customers through the Bank’s customized technology based products and services.
Government pensioners will have to submit their Annual Life Certificate once every year to continue receiving the pension. The deadline for submission of life certificates is between November 1 and November 30. However, pensioners aged 80 years and above can submit their life certificates from this month. Hence, old age pensioners will get two months till November 30 to submit their certificates.
The pensioner can submit the Annual Life Certificate in various ways, commonly known as Jeevan Pramaan. The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare has issued detailed guidelines regarding various modes of submission of Life Certificate. One can deposit it by visiting a bank, post office or by availing door-to-door services. Now pensioners can also submit life certificate online.
