The Road Transport Ministry is going to change its earlier order on the requirement of airbag in the driver’s seat, under which all vehicles manufactured after December 31, 2021 will be required to have airbags. Notification will be issued soon.



New Delhi. The Ministry of Road Transport is going to change the time limit for the notification of the requirement of airbags on the co-driver seat. Due to the second wave of Corona, there was a lockdown in most of the states. Because of this, the Ministry of Road Transport is going to extend the date of requirement of airbags (Date Extended) after December 31.

The Ministry of Road Transport has issued a notification last year making airbags mandatory on both the front seats in vehicles manufactured after March 31, 2021. Apart from this, after 31 August 2031, airbags have been made mandatory on both the front seats on all existing models, but due to the second wave of corona in April and May, the Ministry of Road Transport is going to give four months more relief to the vehicle manufacturers. . Soon a notification regarding this will be issued. After which airbags on both the front seats will be mandatory on all existing models manufactured after December 31, 2021.


During a road accident, the maximum danger in vehicles is to the driver and the person sitting next to him. On a face-to-face collision, even the lives of both of them are made. In order to avoid such accidents, the Ministry of Road Transport has made it mandatory for both the front seats to have airbags. Notification related to this has also been issued.
