The Payment Council of India (PCI) and the industry are working together to bring a secure card with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for no longer having to remember the 16 digits of the card for payment during online shopping.
PCI said on Thursday, “We are working with RBI to find a solution to introduce a secure card so that it can be adopted by the online industry and customers do not have to remember the 16 digits of the card while making online payments.”
The council said that a solution is being worked out in collaboration with RBI, due to which customers will not have to enter 16 digits of the card while making online payments. Payment through this solution will be completely secure and subject to RBI’s action plan. By January 2022, customers will get this facility.
