In Nainital district, the privileged people who earn a lot by becoming BPL ration card holders are grabbing the right to ration for the poor. The supply department has identified about 200 such ration card holders, who are taking government ration every month by making white cards. The department has sent a show cause notice to the dumper and flour mill owner of Gaulapar. If you do not respond, a case can also be registered against such people. The supply department has become strict against those who kill the right to ration for the poor. There are 16,639 Antyodaya (red card) holders in Nainital district. Apart from this, there are 1,11,524 primary (white cards) i.e. below poverty line. There are 1,07,413 yellow ration card holders i.e. above poverty line.
After complaints of rigging during the distribution of ration during the Corona period, on the orders of the government, the supply department wrongly made poverty ration cards and marked those who rationed the poor. During this, about 200 ration card holders have been identified. This includes businessmen, government employees and officers working in good positions in private companies. On Monday, by making many such white ration cards, the supply department has sent a show cause notice to the people who took ration for the poor. Last year also, the supply department had canceled 498 ration cards, in which 153 ration card holders themselves came and surrendered their cards. People are coming to surrender.
The people of the city became poorer than the village
according to the data of the supply department, in Nainital district, the city has become poorer than the rural. In the year 2020, there were 69,063 primary households (white ration card) holders in rural areas of Nainital district, which increased to 73,185 in one year. In one year, 4 thousand 122 white ration card holders have increased. Apart from this, there were 25,168 BPL ration card holders in the city in the last 2020, which increased to 30,578 within a year. Within a year, 5 thousand 410 white ration card holders increased in the urban area. Apart from this, there were 14,052 Antyodaya (red ration card holders) in the rural area in the last 2020, which increased to 14097 within a year, a total of 45 Antyodaya families have increased. On the other hand, if we look at the figures of the urban area, there were 14,88 Antyodaya families in the year 2020, which increased to 16,59 in the year 2021, the total number of ration card holders has increased by 171.
In the year 2020, there were 94,231 white ration card holders in Nainital district, which increased to 1,03,763 in one year. Within a year, 9 thousand 532 families came under the category of poverty line. Apart from this, in the last year 2020, in Nainital district, 15540 families Antyodaya who were below poverty line, this number increased to 15,756 in the year 2021. Apart from this, there were 1,06,333 State Food Schemes (yellow ration card holders) in 2020, which increased to 1,99,790 within a year.
The supply department is giving a chance, those who have made Antyodaya and white cards, they should come to the office and submit it. If the department is caught, action will be taken. On Tuesday, notices have been sent to those making ration cards with such wrong documents. If the answer is not received, legal action will be taken.
