The festival season is just around the corner and with the Central government employees are all set to get some good news. The Central government has announced that employees will be getting another hike in their Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR).

The DA which Central government employees previously stood at 17% currently stands at 28% after the hike. This hike was made active from the salary of July 2021.

In addition to this, the Central government has also announced that the House Rent Allowance (HRA) will also increase from 24% to 27%.

But the good news is that the Central government employees could be in for an additional 3% increase in both DR and DA which will take it to 31%.

According to the employees union, the government is likely to announce a 3% DA hike. According to data of the AICPI, the index for June 2021 has increased by 1.1 points, reaching 121.7 in June. In such a situation, DA in June 2021 is set to increase by 3%.

Amid the increasing demand by the employees union, DA for July 2021 can be announced in September. However, no deadline has been fixed as yet. But, the government can announce the DA hike in September and pay it in the salary of October. Employees union believes that if the hike in Dearness Allowance is announced in September, then the government should also pay arrears from July till now as no talk has been made on the arrears of one and a half years.
