Child Aadhaar card also has a 12 digit unique identification number and comes in blue colour. However, when the child turns five, the parent has to update the card or else it will become invalid. Parents will have to update the photograph, fingerprint and iris scan of their five-year-old child in the existing Aadhaar card.
Child Aadhaar Card
The validity of Child Aadhaar Card is five years. However, parents can extend the validity by following the prescribed guidelines. By doing this, child Aadhaar card can be used as a valid ID proof even after the child is five years old. The government does not charge any fee for updating the details of children in their Aadhaar details.
Required Documents
To apply for Child Aadhaar Card, parents need to carry certain documents to the enrollment center. It is important to note that users are required to keep the documents in their original form for authentication purposes. Users are also advised to carry a photocopy of all these documents in case they are required to submit any.
Along with this, the parents of the child whose Aadhaar card is being made will also have to be brought along. The required document lists include – Birth Certificate, Aadhaar Card of the parents, Address Proof and School ID (if the child is in school).
Online Application
Users cannot apply for Blue Aadhaar Card online. However, they can check the nearest Aadhaar center on the official web portal of UIDAI. They can also check the list of documents required for the same.
