Chopper Crash: Group Captain Varun Singh was originally a resident of Kanauhali village in Deoria district of UP. Although his parents live in Bhopal, his uncle and other family members live here.


Chopper Crash: Group Captain Varun Singh, who was injured in the helicopter crash of the Indian Air Force, is also no more. After struggling for seven days, he died in a hospital in Bangalore. Varun was a victim of a helicopter accident along with General Bipin Rawat. The Indian Air Force tweeted, “Indian Air Force is deeply saddened to inform about the passing away of brave Group Captain Varun Singh, who died due to injuries sustained in a helicopter crash this morning on 8th December. The Indian Air Force expresses its deepest condolences and stands firmly with the bereaved family.

An Air Force helicopter crashed near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu on December 8, killing Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 others. The Group Captain was the only survivor of the accident, while all others had died. Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 other army personnel were killed in this helicopter crash on Wednesday. On the other hand, Varun Singh was seriously injured.

PM Modi has expressed condolences on the demise of Group Captain Varun Singh. He said, ‘Group Captain Varun Singh served the nation with pride, valor and utmost professionalism. I am deeply hurt by his death. His rich service to the nation will never be forgotten. Condolences to his family and friends. Calmness.’
