The auctioneer Andrew Stow has described these glasses as his company’s biggest discovery, according to him, Mahatma Gandhi wore these glasses in South Africa.
It is reported that the owner of this spectacle is an elderly man from Mangottsfield, who will share the money received from the auction with his daughter. It is reported that his family had these glasses from the last few generations. In 1920, the family received the spectacles through a relative who had met Gandhi in South Africa.
According to auctioneer Andrew Stow, the glasses Bapu wore in South Africa were found in an envelope in a letterbox by an employee of his company. The envelope remained in the letterbox from Friday to Monday. However, when Stowe found the specs, he began investigating it. It turned out that these gold-plated glasses of round shape are of Gandhiji’s early wear, when he was in South Africa, because his power is very low. Stow has considered it the most important discovery of his life.
