The National Water Life Mission has launched the ICT Grand Challenge in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) to develop a ‘Smart Water Supply Measurement and Monitoring System’. This system has to be installed in villages. Proposals have been sought from Indian start-ups, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) and other Indian companies for this challenge.

Under the ICT Grand Challenge, a cash prize of Rs 50 lakh will be given by the government to those who create the best system and win the challenge. In this competition, the person who comes second will get a reward of 20 lakh rupees. Successful developers will be given the opportunity to join the MEITY-supported incubator / COE to carry out their further work. This will give a further boost to Self-reliant India, Digital India and Make in India. All the details related to ICT Grand Challenge will be found on this website https://jjm.gov.in/.

Under Water Life Mission (JJM), every rural household has to provide water tap connection (FHTC) by 2024. Under this scheme, clean drinking water will be provided to every household in the villages. Automatic data collection and analysis will be done to monitor this scheme and provide better quality service. Digitalizing the entire water supply system will completely eliminate many problems.

Through the ICT Grand Challenge, the government is trying to develop smart water supply systems in the villages. This system will initially be implemented in 100 villages of the country under the Water Life Mission project. Depending on the result obtained from it, it can also be applied in villages.
