Over 700 Indian students studying in Canada are facing deportation. Authorities in the North American country have found their ‘admission offer letters’ to educational institutions to be fake. He has recently received a deportation letter from the Canadian Border Security Agency (SBSA).
Experts have told The Indian Express that most of these students have already completed their studies and obtained work permits. Many students had got work experience but when they applied for PR, then they got into trouble.
Experts say that this education fraud is a unique case of its kind which has come to the fore in Canada for the first time. According to experts, such a huge fraud is the result of a large number of applicants in Canada. When the relatives of the students who were duped tried to contact the visa agent in Jalandhar repeatedly, his office was found locked every time.
Chaman Singh Bath, speaking to indiannarrative.com over phone from Toronto, said that after passing +2, around 700 students had applied for study visas through Education Migration Services, Jalandhar, headed by Brijesh Mishra. These visa applications were filed between 2018 and 2022.
According to Baath, Mishra had taken Rs 16 to 20 lakh from all the students for the visa. It also included the admission charge. He told that money was also taken separately in the form of air ticket and security deposit.
CBSA officials are no longer accepting the claims of innocence of the “victims” because the students have no evidence to prove that Agent Mishra was the one who prepared all the documents. The Canadian agency is also disapproving of the failure of Canadian visa and airport officials who issued visas and allowed entry to verify the authenticity of all documents.
