CBSE Board New Rule: Big news! Strict action has been taken by the CBSE board against these schools. The board has canceled the affiliation of these schools. At present, the affiliation of 21 schools has been canceled in this action.
CBSE Board New Rule: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken strict action against ‘dummy’ schools and terminated the affiliation of 21 schools in Delhi and Rajasthan. Apart from this, six other schools have been downgraded. The board has taken this step against those schools which allowed students to appear only in board examinations instead of attending regular classes, which was adversely affecting the quality of education.
Dummy schools are institutions where students do not attend classes regularly, but only appear in board examinations. Often, these students depend on coaching institutes to prepare for competitive exams like engineering or medical and do not even make minimum attendance in school. This practice is against the basic spirit of the education system and hinders the overall development of students.
CBSE board action
According to media reports, CBSE conducted surprise inspections in 29 schools in Delhi, Bengaluru, Varanasi, Bihar, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh in December 2024. In these inspections, it was found that students in many schools were not attending classes regularly, which points to dummy admission. Based on these findings, the board issued show cause notices to 18 schools and cancelled the affiliation of 21 schools.
Regular attendance necessary
According to CBSE rules, it is necessary for students to attend classes regularly and fulfill the minimum attendance condition to appear in board examinations. The Ministry of Education has also clarified that action against schools will continue to stop the practice of dummy admission. Schools have been instructed to strictly follow the attendance rules and encourage students to attend regular classes.
Steps towards improving the education system
The problem of dummy admission has become a serious issue in the country, where students start going directly to coaching centers instead of going to schools. CBSE has started taking strict steps to stop this trend so that the quality of the education system can be improved and students get an opportunity for holistic development.
