If the latest media reports are to be believed, a proposal for a four percent increase in DA and DR may come in the Union Cabinet meeting to be held on September 27. After this, the ‘DA’ of central employees will increase from 42% to 46%. Since it will be implemented from July 1, 2023, employees-pensioners will also get arrears for two months of July and August. There will also be an increase in other allowances, in such a situation there will be a bumper jump in the salary of employees and pension of pensioners.

There is a possibility that after the Cabinet approves the proposal to increase DA, orders may be issued by the Finance Ministry by the end of September. The same central employees can get the benefit of 46% dearness allowance from October. Its benefit will be available to 47.58 lakh employees and about 69.76 lakh pensioners.
Due to this, the salary of the employees will increase from Rs 27000 to Rs 70000. They will also get the benefit of the same allowances. However, official confirmation is yet to be made. The score of dearness allowance that comes between July and December will decide how much the dearness allowance will increase again in January 2024.
