CGHS Cardholder: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Central Government has issued new rules under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS). Now government employees and pensioners will get approval for essential medical devices like CPAP, BiPAP and oxygen concentrators sooner than ever. This will eliminate the need for patients to rent expensive devices. Till now it takes a lot of time to get these devices, due to which patients used to rent it. This rent is not refunded under CGHS. In such a situation, CGHS cardholders will benefit from this.
Will be able to apply for expensive devices online
Earlier pensioners had to apply offline, which took 15 to 45 days or more to get approval. Now the entire process has been made online. With this, the work will now be quick and transparent.
Can apply by email
According to the new guidelines, now CGHS beneficiaries can scan their application and send it via email. It will be necessary to submit the necessary documents and affidavit along with the application, which will make the approval process faster and easier. If any CGHS health center does not have a high-speed scanner, then the documents can be sent. The government has directed to install high-speed scanners in all CGHS wellness centers, so that maximum permissions can be obtained and there is no delay in the process.
Tracking will be easy with e-filing
Now the record of all approvals will be kept in a separate Excel sheet in the Additional Director of CGHS. It will contain information like e-file number, beneficiary’s name, ID, name of the device and approval status. With this, beneficiaries will be able to easily know the status of their file online.
Information about approval or rejection will be available on email
When the committee of respiratory medicine experts reviews the application, the beneficiary will be informed about approval or rejection through email. If approved, an official letter will be issued. This will enable the beneficiary to purchase the necessary medical device.
CGHS beneficiaries will get relief
With this new digital process, CGHS beneficiaries will no longer have to wait long for approval. Information about whether their application has been rejected or approved will be available soon.
