CGHS Rule Changed: Big news! CGHS rules have changed, it is important for central employees to know

In the past, the Central Government made some important changes in the Health Scheme (Central Government Health Scheme or CGHS). The package rates of CGHS have been changed for all the CGHS beneficiaries in the last month of April. Along with this, the process of referral under CGHS was simplified.

Under the new rule, OPD rates have been increased from Rs 150 to Rs 350, while the charges for IPD have been increased from Rs 300 to Rs 350. The cost of ICU services including stay has been fixed at Rs 5,400 for all eligible wards.

Room rates also changed: There has been a change in the hospital room rates for CGHS beneficiaries. The general room rent has been increased from Rs 1000 to Rs 1500, semi-private ward from Rs 2000 to Rs 3000 and private room from Rs 3000 to Rs 4500. Explain that about 42 lakh central government employees and pensioners come under the ambit of CGHS.

Easy referral process: Under the new rule, the process of referral of central employees has also been simplified. Earlier the CGHS beneficiary had to personally visit the CGHS Wellness Center and take a referral to the hospital. However, now he can send someone on his behalf with his documents. The medical officer may refer the beneficiary to the hospital after checking the documents. Apart from this, CGHS beneficiary can also take referral through video call.
