IT and Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that things suspected to be fraud can be reported to Chakshu. In this, mobile numbers leaked by business institutions can also be reported.


The government has opened its ‘eyes’ to catch cyber criminals who are cheating common citizens through phone calls, WhatsApp calls and messages. The Central Department of Telecommunications created a new online platform with the same name. On this, citizens will be able to give information about such phone calls and messages, through which they are being subjected to everything from financial fraud to sextortion.

Union Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday formally launched the platform on the government portal SancharSathi.gov. Suspected Fraud Communication Report System is provided on Chakshu. In this, information about phone or WhatsApp calls and messages of fraudsters can be given. Citizens will also be able to upload their screenshots. They will have to write down the time, date and other available information of the call or message. You will have to provide your name and phone number. OTP will be sent to their phone number, on telling which a complaint will be registered.

Union IT and Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the Department of Telecommunications Services has saved nearly Rs 1000 crore of citizens in the last nine months through digital measures to check fraud and cyber crime. Apart from this, Rs 1008 crore related to fraudulent transactions in various bank accounts have been seized. Vaishnaw said, things suspected to be fraud can be reported to Chakshu. In this, mobile numbers leaked by business institutions can also be reported. Action will be taken against the culprit. The minister said that in the last nine months, one crore mobile numbers linked to malicious activities have been disconnected.

Created these categories of complaint

  • Sextortion calls or messages, impersonating a government official or his relative, calls from fake customer care helplines.
  • Incoming calls for bank, electricity, gas, insurance policy etc.
  • Robotic or repetitive calls
  • Fake calls coming for online job, lottery, gifts, lawn offers
  • Messages containing links to suspicious websites
  • Other suspected fraud

Action will be taken against criminals, suspicious numbers will be blocked.
Complaints received on Chakshu platform will be investigated and criminals will be caught and action will be taken. Spam callers and other suspicious phone numbers will be blocked. This is also expected to help the government take timely action on cyber threats.

Digital intelligence platform created, information will be shared

Digital Intelligence Platform was also released to enable government departments, agencies and other organizations to share various information and information securely among themselves. This will improve coordination between departments. Especially, telecom service providers, law enforcement agencies, banks and financial institutions, social media platforms, identity card issuing agencies will get help. This platform will not be for common citizens, only concerned departments and agencies will be able to use it.
