There have been many deaths during this holy yatra in the past, in which 90 pilgrims died in 2019, while 102 pilgrims died in 2018.

Mandatory for devotees to get tested

According to a report of Live Mint, Uttarakhand Director General of Health Shailja Bhatt has informed that now new rules have been made for Chardham Yatra. Under this, health check-up of devotees of 50 years and above has been made mandatory.

Apart from this, Rudraprayag Chief Medical Officer BK Shukla said that if any passengers are found unfit, they will be asked to return. If a passenger is not ready to go back, then he will be allowed to continue the journey only after taking a consent letter. According to Uttarkashi Chief Medical Officer KC Chauhan, medical examination of passengers of 50 years and above has been started.
