Some reports on social media are claiming that if you have filled a cheque or signed it with a black pen, the bank may refuse to clear such a cheque.

The report further claims that RBI has advised people to use only blue or green coloured pens while writing cheques.

When PIB investigated this matter on behalf of the government, it was found to be completely fake. PIB Fact Check said that RBI has not given any such order regarding writing of cheques.
What is the rule of RBI?
Let us tell you that according to the RBI order issued on October 31, 2022, three images are taken while clearing the check, one gray scale from the front, one black and white from the front, and one black and white from the back. In such a situation, customers should use such a pen, which looks very clear in it.
Which colour can be used?
To avoid any kind of fraud, one should use a permanent pen while writing a cheque. But there is no restriction from RBI on the colour of the pen.
