An auto rickshaw driver molested a college student in Thane, Maharashtra on Friday morning. An attempt was also made to force the girl to sit in the auto. Not only this, the girl struggled to free herself and the driver dragged her for about 500 meters in a moving auto. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
This incident happened on Friday morning at 6.45 am. The victim is a college student and she was going to college when the accused grabbed her hand and molested her.
According to Senior Inspector Jairaj Ranaware, the auto driver standing on the way made dirty comments on him. When the girl objected, the accused grabbed her hand and tried to drag her into the auto.
In the viral video, it can be seen that the auto driver is seen holding the girl’s hand and pulling it. When she tries to free herself, the driver drives her three-wheeler. Watch Video:-

According to the CCTV recording, the girl was dragged along with the auto for about 500 meters. After this she fell and the accused fled from the spot.
Senior Inspector said that in this case, a case has been registered against the auto driver under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code and other sections.
The police officer said that the auto driver is still absconding and teams have been formed to nab him. Soon the accused will be in the custody of the police.
Auto driver ran away after molesting a student in Delhi too
Earlier, a similar case had come up in the capital New Delhi as well. The incident happened on 30 September. The girl left her school in Saket at around 1.43 pm. From here he took an auto to meet his mother in Lajpat Nagar, Delhi. On the way, the driver misbehaved with the girl student, made dirty comments on her and touched her inappropriately.
The frightened student somehow got down from the auto near Lajpat Nagar metro station. Taking the opportunity, the auto driver also fled from there. In this case, the police started investigation by registering a case under sections 354, 509 of IPC and POCSO Act on the same day at Saket police station.
A police team was formed to nab the accused. The team collected and viewed every CCTV footage on the way to the spot. After hard work, the team found out the number of the auto. Based on that the address of the accused was ascertained. The team raided in Trilokpuri, Delhi. But no one was found at that address.
After this information was obtained from the finance company from which the auto loan was taken. On the basis of information received about this on October 11, at 5.30 pm, the police team laid a trap in Khanpur Red Light Area. The team was checking every auto passing on the way.
About an hour later, the same auto from Khanpur to Badarpur was found, which was marked as suspicious in the CCTV footage. When the police tried to stop him, the driver started running after increasing the speed. The policemen somehow stopped the auto and caught the accused driver.
