How to Open Jandhan Account?

If you want to open a Jandhan Account, the process is quite easy. You can open your Jandhan account by going to any Government bank near you. Firstly, you need to get the form for Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana from the official website or government bank. And then, after filling the form, some documents will be required to attach with that like Passport/ driving license/ PAN card/ job card issued by NREGA duly signed by an officer of state government/ Aadhar/ or any other document as notified by the central government in consultation with the regulator can be used. After the proper verification, your account will be opened.


Apart from this, ordinary bank account holders can also convert their bank account to Jandhan Account and avail the benefits.

How to Convert Savings Account to Jandhan Account?

It is very easy to convert any old savings account to Jandhan account. Firstly, you need to visit the bank branch, and fill a form there and apply for a RuPay card against your account. Submit the form in the bank after filling it. After this, your account will be converted into Jandhan account.

What facilities will You Get?

You get many facilities in Zero Balance Jan Dhan accounts. In these, you get an overdraft facility as well as a RuPay debit card. On this card, you also get the free Rs. 2 Lakh Accident Insurance. If you want to take a checkbook, then you have to keep some amount in your account. If not, then you may have to face some trouble getting the checkbook. On the death of beneficiary, Life Cover up to Rs. 30,000 on the completion of eligibility conditions.

Rules & Guidelines of Jandhan Account

RBI has prepared some guidelines for Jandhan accounts. According to this, if a citizen does not have any official document including Voter id, PAN, Aadhar, then too he/she can open the account. In order to open an account, he/she will have to visit a nearby bank branch and give a self-attested photograph in the presence of a bank officer. The photo must be signed or with a thumbprint. Then the banker opens an account.


Then, to keep the account running, any valid document must be submitted in the bank within 12 months.
