D-Street Buzz: IT stocks in red, Infosys sheds 2%; Zee Entertainment drags, volatility spikes

The breadth of the market favoured the declines as 688 stocks advanced and 1,061 declined while 350 remained unchanged. On the BSE, 1,050 stocks advanced, 1,446 declined and 164 remained unchanged.
Benchmark indices have slipped into the red with Nifty down 16 points, trading at 11,732, while the Sensex shed 20 points and is trading at 39,011.

Nifty IT along with the media sector are the biggest drags led by Infosys, HCL Tech, TCS, Tata Elxsi and Oracle Financial Services while from the media space, the top losers are Zee Entertainment which is down 3 percent followed by UFO Moviez, Sun TV Network, EROS International Media, Hathway Cable and Dish TV.

From the FMCG space, the top losers are Dabur India which shed close to 4 percent after it reported 6.5 percent fall in its fourth quarter consolidated net profit at Rs 370.4 crore on the back of one-time loss of Rs 75.3 crore.

The other losers are Godrej Industries, Hindustan Unilever, Marico, United Spirits and Tata Global Beverage.

Nifty Pharma is down a percent dragged by Cadila Healthcare which shed 3 percent followed by Divis Labs, Glenmark Pharma and Sun Pharma.

Infra stocks continue to buzz led by Bharti Infratel, Container Corp, Power Grid, Reliance Communications, Reliance Infra, Tata Communications and Vodafone Idea.

India VIX spiked 5.59 percent at 23.05 levels.

The top Nifty gainers include YES Bank which jumped 3 percent followed by Bharti Infratel, Power Grid, HDFC Bank and Hero MotoCorp while Britannia Industries, Tata Motors, Zee Entertainment, ICICI Bank and IndusInd Bank.

The most active stocks are YES Bank, Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, Maruti Suzuki and Kotak Mahindra Bank.

Stocks which hit 52-week high on the NSE included Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, Tech Mahindra, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bajaj Finance and PVR.

93 stocks have hit new 52-week low on the NSE including Jet Airways, Jain Irrigation Systems, Mcleod Russel, Reliance Power, Mercator, PNB Housing, TV Today Network, JK Tyre, KPIT Tech, ABG Shipyard, MRF and IDBI Bank have hit new 52-week low.

Over 100 stocks have hit new 52-week low on BSE including McLeod Russel, Jet Airways, McLeod Russel, UFO Moviez India, Mercator, TV Today Network, LG Balakrishnan, Rallis India and MRF among others.
