At present central employees are getting 46% DA benefit and it is expected to increase to 50% before Holi. The next DA will be extended from January 2024, which will remain in force till June. The AICPI index figures released by the Labor Ministry are indicating this increase. This increase will be in line with the latest decision of the Central Government, whereby DA can reach 50%.
Central Employee DA Hike 2024: Before Holi, dearness allowance and dearness relief of central employees and pensioners may increase from 46% to 50%. This estimate has been made from the AICPI index data from July to November released by the Labor Ministry, however, the figures for December will come on January 28-30, after which it will be clear whether there will be a 4 percent increase in DA from January 2024 or three percent?
If the DA/DR of employees and pensioners covered under the Seventh Pay Commission increases by 4 percent, then there will be a huge jump in salary and pension. 48 lakh employees and 68 lakh pensioners will benefit from this. There is a possibility that after the budget session, the Modi government at the Center may announce new DA rates, although official confirmation is yet to be done.
Dearness allowance increases twice a year
Actually, the Central Government revises the rates of dearness allowance and dearness relief of central employees and pensioners twice a year in January and July, which depends on the half yearly data of AICPI index. Last year in 2023, a total of 8% DA was increased including January and July and now the next DA will be revised from January 2024, which will depend on the AICPI index data from July to December 2023.
Dearness allowance may increase from 46% to 50%
At present, central employees are getting the benefit of 46% DA and according to the AICPI index data from July to November, DA is expected to increase again by 4% from January. Since till November, the score has reached 139.1 and DA score has reached 49.68 percent. Has gone. If there is an increase of 4% it will become 50%. With this, 50% of Rs 9000 will be added to the salary of employees with minimum basic salary of Rs 18000. Similarly, other employees will get DA based on their salary. The next DA will be extended from January 2024, which will be applicable till June. It is believed that the new rates can be announced before the dates of Lok Sabha elections and the code of conduct coming into effect. However, official confirmation is yet to be done.
Know when dearness allowance becomes zero?
According to media reports, if DA reaches 50% or 51%, then the salary of the employees will be revised because with the formation of the 7th Pay Commission, the Central Government had decided the rules for revision of DA that if DA reaches 50%, it will be zero. In such a situation, 50% DA will be given by adding it to the existing basic salary and the calculation of DA will start from zero or whenever the new pay scale is implemented, the DA received by the employees is added to the basic salary.
