DA Hike 2025: Central government employees and pensioners are going to get good news before Holi (Holi 2025). It is believed that the government may announce an increase in dearness allowance (DA) before Holi. However, not all employees may be happy with this announcement. Under the 7th Pay Commission, DA is increased twice a year. The first increase comes into effect from January 1 and the second from July 1. The first increase of 2025 will come into effect from January 1, 2025. Its official announcement may be made in March 2025. Let us tell you that this year Holi is on March 14, 2025.

How much can DA increase

According to the expectations of the employee union, the central government may announce a 3-4 percent DA hike for employees around Holi in March 2025. If we talk about this increase, the salary of entry-level central government employees, whose basic salary is around Rs 18,000 per month, can increase by Rs 540-720 per month from January 1, 2025.

For example, if someone’s salary is Rs 30,000 per month and his basic salary is Rs 18,000, he currently gets Rs 9,000 as dearness allowance, which is 50 percent of the basic salary. If there is a 3 percent DA hike, then the employee will now get Rs 9,540 as dearness allowance, that is, an increase of Rs 540. On the other hand, if there is a 4 percent hike, then the employee will get Rs 9,720.

How much was the increase last year?

  • In October 2024, the government increased DA by 3%, increasing it from 50% to 53%.
  • In March 2024, the government increased it by 4% to 50%.

Know all the calculations

In this way, if someone’s salary is Rs 30,000 and basic salary is Rs 18,000, then his salary can increase by Rs 540-720 every month. Apart from this, according to the Financial Express report, the DA of central employees can be increased by 2 percent based on the CPI-IW data applicable from January 2025, taking it to 55.98 percent under the 7th Pay Commission. Government employees get Dearness Allowance (DA) and pensioners get Dearness Relief (DR). Both of these increase twice a year – January and July. Currently, more than one crore central government employees and pensioners are getting 50 percent dearness allowance.
