In such a situation, there is every possibility that the government can increase DA on March 5. Employees and pensioners will get great news before Holi (Holi 2025). Under the 7th Pay Commission, DA is increased twice a year. The first increase comes into effect from January 1 and the second from July 1. The first increase of 2025 will be effective from January 1, 2025. The government may make its official announcement anytime, but it is considered to be applicable from January 1, 2025.
How much will DA increase?
The central government may soon give good news to its employees on Holi. It is expected that the government may announce an increase of 3 to 4 percent DA. If this happens, the salary of the entry-level employees of the central government will increase. Employees whose basic salary is Rs 18,000 per month will increase from Rs 540 to Rs 720 per month.
How is dearness allowance calculated?
If the salary of an employee is Rs 30,000 and his basic salary is Rs 18,000, then he is currently getting 50% i.e. Rs 9,000 as DA. If there is a 3% increase, the DA will increase to Rs 9,540, which will increase the salary by Rs 540. At the same time, with a 4% increase, DA will become Rs 9,720 and the salary will increase by Rs 720.
How much was the increase last year?
In March 2024, the government increased DA by 4% to 50%. After this, there was a 3% increase in October 2024, which made DA 53%. Now from January 2025, DA is expected to increase again by 3-4%.
More than one crore government employees will benefit
About one crore employees and pensioners of the central government will benefit from this decision. According to government rules, DA and dearness relief (DR) given to pensioners are revised twice a year – in January and July. If this increase is implemented, the salary of government employees will increase once again.
