Although no official announcement has been made about this so far that its disclosure will be less, but it is being speculated in media reports that now an announcement related to it can be made in September next month itself. According to reports, dearness allowance may increase by 3 percent, after which it will reach 45 percent. The new DA hike will be effective from 1st July 2023.
Dearness allowance is fixed every month for employees and pensioners. It is determined on the basis of the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) of the Labor Bureau. This bureau is a wing of the Labor Ministry. Currently, more than 1 crore central government employees and pensioners get 42 per cent DA. Explain that government employees get DA (Dearness Allowance) while pensioners get DR (Dearness Relief). It is extended twice a year.
How much is the scope for growth this time?
Last time in March 2023, DA was increased by 4 percent to 42 percent. This time also, considering the current inflation, there can be an increase of 4 percent. Although Shiv Gopal Mishra, General Secretary of the All India Railwaymen’s Federation, had recently said that the CPI-IW of June 2023 came on July 31 and according to this a demand for a 4 per cent hike in DA was sought, but the government could not give anything less than 3 per cent.
