new Delhi. The Central Government on Wednesday approved the increase in Dearness Allowance of central employees. 48 lakh central employees of the country and about 69 lakh pensioners will be benefited by increasing DA. On Thursday, the Department of Expenditure of the Ministry of Finance has issued a notification regarding the increase in dearness allowance. It has been said in the notification that with effect from January 1, 2022, dearness allowance to central employees is increased from 31 percent to 34 percent.
But, the employees will have to wait for now to get the DA arrears. If the employees are expecting it to be paid along with the salary in the month of March, then they will be disappointed. In the notification issued on Thursday, it has been made clear that the arrears will not be paid along with the March salary. It is worth noting that due to increase in dearness allowance, there will be an annual burden of Rs 9544.50 crore on the central government exchequer.
When will the arrears be paid
In the notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, it has been said that the arrears of Dearness Allowance will not be paid to the employees before the payment of salary for the month of March 2022. This means that only after paying the salary of March, the arrears between January and March will be paid to the central employees. Central employees will be paid the full dearness allowance along with the salary of April. This means that along with the salary for the month of April, the employees will also be given all their DA arrears for the last 3 months. Central employees have been demanding for a long time to increase DA and pay arrears.
3 percent increase
In a meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, it was approved to increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) of Central Government employees and pensioners by 3 percent with effect from January 1, 2022. Earlier in October 2021, the central government had increased the DA by three percent and increased it from 28% to 31%.
