The government has increased the DA of central employees by 4 percent. Till now the employees were being given Dearness Allowance of 46 percent, which has been increased to 50 percent. After 4 percent DA increase, Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) of pensioners have increased to 50 percent. This increase will be considered effective from January 1, 2024.
Government increases DA twice a year
DA and DR are increased twice a year, effective from January and July. The quantum of increase in DA and Dearness Relief (DR) is decided by the Central Government on the basis of all India CPI-IW data. The 12-month average of the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) stood at 392.83. According to this, DA was coming at 50.26 percent of the basic salary.
1 crore employees and pensioners will benefit
In the last increase in October 2023, DA was increased by 4 percent to 46 percent. Considering the current inflation rate, the next DA increase will be 4 percent to 50 percent. This decision of the government will benefit 1 crore employees and pensioners of the country.
You will get 2 months DA arrears
The DA increase made by the government will be considered effective from January 1, 2024. That is, the DA arrears of two months January and February will also be included in the March salary. The salary coming in March will come with increased DA of three months. Bumper salaries of the employees are going to come on 31st March, the last day of the financial year.
