Da Hike Updates: Central employees and pensioners are waiting for an increase in dearness allowance from the government, but the increase in dearness allowance has not been announced yet. According to media reports, dearness allowance for central employees and dearness relief for pensioners can be increased during the month of September. However, nothing has been decided officially yet.

DA may increase by 3 percent

On July 31, the figures of AICPI index were released for June, according to which, if calculated, there can be a three percent increase in both dearness allowance and dearness relief. If this increase happens, then the DA of the employees will increase from 42 percent to 45 percent.

How is dearness allowance decided?

Dearness Allowance is decided on the basis of data of All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI) every month. The number of dearness allowance applicable in July 2023 is decided on the basis of AICPI index from January to June. On the other hand, if the trend of the figures of six months is seen, then it is certain that there will be an increase of 4 percent in the dearness allowance. However, the final decision will be of the government.

There will be an increase in salary

It is expected that there may be a 3 per cent hike in DA in September, after which the DA of the employees will increase to 45 per cent. It will be implemented from 1 July 2023, in which case arrears of 2 months will also be given. This will benefit 1 crore employee-pensioners. Earlier in March 2023, DA was increased to 42 percent.
