7th Pay Commission DA Hike: The central government revises the rates of dearness allowance and dearness relief of central employees and pensioners twice every year, which depends on the half-yearly data of the All India Consumer Price Index. This increase is done every year from January / July, which is announced around March and October.
Currently, central employees and pensioners are getting the benefit of dearness allowance and relief at the rate of 53 percent. Now the next increase is to be from January 1, 2025, the rate of which will depend on the data of AICPI Index from July to December 2024 by the Ministry of Labor. It is expected that 3 percent DA can be increased again, which can be announced anytime in the cabinet to be held before Holi.
3% DA hike is certain in March!
If we look at the data from July to November, the AICPI Index has reached 144.5 and the DA score has reached 55.05%, in such a situation, a 3% increase in DA is certain. However, the data for December 2024 is yet to come. After this, it will be finalized how much percent DA will increase from January 2025. Since the new rates will be applicable from January 2025, arrears of 2 months i.e. January February will also be available. This increase will be done under the 7th Pay Commission. This will benefit 48 lakh central employees and 69 lakh pensioners.
How will salary-arrears be calculated on DA Hike
- DA is calculated like this for central government employees- DA% = [(Average of AICPI (Base Year 2001 = 100) for the last 12 months – 115.76)/115.76] x 100
- DA is calculated like this for public sector employees- DA% = [(Average of AICPI (Base Year 2001 = 100) for the last 3 months – 126.33)/126.33] x 100
- For example, employees whose minimum salary is Rs 18,000 will get an increase of Rs 540 on a 3% DA hike and those earning a maximum salary of Rs 2,50,000 will get an increase of Rs 7,500.
- If an employee is getting DA of Rs 15,000 per month, it will increase to Rs 15,450. That means they will get Rs 450 more per month. Pensioners will also benefit from this, whose pension can increase by Rs 270 to Rs 3,750.
