DA Hike Payment: The central government had given great news to the central employees just before the start of the new financial year. The Union Cabinet on Friday approved a 2 percent increase in dearness allowance to government employees, after which their DA increased to 55 percent. Earlier, before Diwali, in October 2024, it was approved to increase it by 3 percent from 50 to 53 percent. This move of the government will increase the salary of central employees and pension of pensioners.
When will the arrears money be given?
The recent increase in dearness allowance will come into effect from January 1, 2025. In such a situation, arrears will be given to the employees and pensioners. At the same time, the question in the mind of many people is when will the government give this arrears? So let’s know about this too. Actually, the central government will give the arrears of January, February and March along with the salary of April to lakhs of employees and pensioners working under it.
Know how much arrears will be given?
Let us tell you that the salary of government employees whose minimum basic salary is Rs 18,000 per month will increase by Rs 360 every month. In such a situation, they will get Rs 1080 as arrears for January, February and March. At the same time, the pension of pensioners with basic pension of Rs 9000 has increased by Rs 180 per month, whose arrears of three months amount to Rs 540.
DA increases twice a year
The government increases dearness allowance twice a year keeping in mind the inflation trends and price index, so that it can be ensured that the actual value of the earnings of employees and pensioners remains safe. The first hike comes into effect from January 1, which is usually announced in the month of March, while the second hike comes into effect from July 1, which is announced in the month of October.
Will DA be merged after the 8th Pay Commission?
It is worth noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had approved the 8th Pay Commission for central employees in January, but the Pay Commission has not been formed yet and the names of the three-member committee have been disclosed. It is expected that the Eighth Pay Commission will be formed by the end of April. Once the Eighth Pay Commission is implemented, the dearness allowance of central employees will be merged with the basic salary and their DA will become zero.
