DA Hike Update: It is the monsoon season and the rainy season, so there will be a shower of happiness on the central government employees. Soon a strong increase is going to be seen in their dearness allowance. The month of July is going on and this is the deciding month. After this, it is known how much the dearness allowance (DA Hike) has increased. Meanwhile, the numbers of May 2024 of the AICPI index have been updated. According to this, dearness allowance has reached 53 percent. Now only the numbers of June are left to come, which will be released on July 31.

Current status of dearness allowance

At present, central employees get 50% dearness allowance, which was increased in March 2024. The rate of dearness allowance depends on the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which shows the rate of inflation. The score of dearness allowance is decided on the basis of the data of the AICPI index. So far, the numbers of dearness allowance have come for 5 months i.e. till May 2024. Now the numbers of June are to be released. At the same time, the final score of dearness allowance will be known with the arrival of June data at the end of July.

How much will the DA increase?

It is estimated that there may be an increase of 3% in dearness allowance from July. If this happens, then the dearness allowance of central employees will reach 53%. Actually, the May 2024 AICPI index has reached 139.9 points. There has been a jump of 0.5 points in this. On this basis, the calculation of dearness allowance has also become 52.91 percent. It will be counted as 53 percent only. But, the data of one month is yet to come. According to experts, on the basis of calculation, the index can show a jump of up to 0.5 points even in June 2024. Even if this happens, there will be no effect on the score of dearness allowance.

Will dearness allowance be zero or not?

Let us tell you, the dearness allowance of the employees will not be zero i.e. zero (0). The calculation of dearness allowance (DA Hike calculation) will continue. Actually, there is no rule regarding this. The last time this was done was when the base year was changed. Now there is no need to change the base year at present. Therefore, dearness allowance for central employees will increase at the rate of 50 percent.

There will be a loss of 1% in dearness allowance

The numbers of AICPI-IW index released between January and June 2024 will decide how much dearness allowance the employees will get from July 2024. It will be given at the rate of 53 percent. There is no possibility of it becoming zero. The DA score determined by the AICPI Index is currently at 52.91 percent.
