Delhi AIIMS: There is big news for the patients coming for treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Soon the cash payment system will be completely stopped in AIIMS. Instead, payment will be made through smart card.

There is big news for the patients coming for treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Understanding the importance of digital payment, now Delhi AIIMS is also going to take a big step in this direction. AIIMS will now start the facility of smart card (Smart Card in AIIMS) for patients. Smart card facility will start for patients from March 31, 2024 and cash payment will be completely stopped.

Top-up counters will open for smart cards

This decision has been taken by AIIMS for the convenience of the patients. With this, patients will be assured that no overcharge of any kind is being taken from them. AIIMS Director Dr. M Srinivas has issued an order in this regard. Under this, top-up counters will be opened to provide smart cards to patients and attendants and for smart card recharge.

Cash payment will stop

It was told by the institute that no cash payment will be accepted at any counter except the AIIMS Smart Card Top-up counter. This means that after March 31, no patient or attendant will be able to make cash payment in AIIMS. Smart card top-up counters will be activated at several locations and will be operated 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Decision taken for these reasons

It was told by AIIMS that an outsourced service provider had made irregularities in the patient’s bill and charged more. To control such matters, this facility of smart card is being started. Through this card, payment can be made at all places inside AIIMS like patient care areas, cafeteria etc. From March 31, AIIMS said that apart from electronic payment through UPI, debit card, credit card, the only mode of payment for all tests and procedures will be AIIMS smart card.
