Delhi: Cabinet approves Rs 64 crore cash subsidy for books and stationery of school students

Delhi: The Cabinet of the Government of Delhi has approved a cash subsidy of Rs. 64 crores for 11 lakh students in various government and aided schools for providing their books and stationery. This approval was given by the cabinet on Tuesday, 12 January 2021. Giving information about the government’s move, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia said that in this difficult period of the Korana epidemic, the government wants to reduce the barriers to children’s education more and more.

The Education Minister said, “With this financial support, we hope that all children will be able to buy all their study materials and continue their studies. In spite of all the financial difficulties, we will make every effort to not let the children’s education be disrupted. ”

Let us know that every year by the Directorate of Education, Government of Delhi, the students in the first and eighth classes in government and aided schools to purchase books, through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), the cash amount and the students from ninth to twelfth Cash subsidy is given on other items.




According to an update issued by the Directorate, “The financial requirements for several important campaigns were approved by the Delhi Cabinet. It also includes the approval of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to purchase books and other materials for children of government schools. Through this, the Delhi Bureau of Textbooks (DBTB) has been allocated funds for publishing and distributing books, diaries and other material to the students. ”

An additional expenditure of Rs 30 crore has also been approved for free distribution of books and other stationery to students for the year 2020-21, according to the directorate update.
