New Delhi. The free journey running for about 10 months on Delhi Meerut Expressway is going to end. The drivers passing through this will have to pay the toll. The Ministry of Road Transport has already given permission for toll.
After February 10, toll can be started from vehicles at any time. NHAI (National Highway Authority of India) has given indications to the toll collecting company. After the imposition of toll, the journey of the drivers will become expensive for those coming to Delhi from Meerut.
The Delhi Meerut Expressway has been opened for vehicles only last year but the construction of Chipiyana ROB in Ghaziabad was going on, due to which there was a traffic jam. Till now toll was not being collected due to technical reasons. Now the construction of ROB is almost complete. According to the officials of NHAI, the ROB will be completely ready by February 10. As soon as it is ready, the company will not incur any loss and will start collecting toll with immediate effect. Because the Ministry of Road Transport has already given permission to collect toll.
The four-lane road from Nizamuddin to Dasna has been changed to a 14-lane road. For this, three new bridges have also been built on the Aligarh railway line in Chipiyana. Of these, a six-lane bridge has been built towards Chipiyana village. While two bridges are towards Kavi Nagar Industrial Area. In these, a two-lane bridge has been prepared which has been opened for traffic. The gorder launching work on the second bridge is going on in full swing, which will be ready by February 10.
Rs 140 toll from Delhi to Meerut
140 rupees toll will be charged from small vehicles from Nizamuddin Delhi to Meerut. Initially, toll will be taken at Meerut (Partapur) toll plaza on Delhi-Meerut Expressway. After that toll will be taken between Sarai Kale Khan to Dasna.
The load will be on 50 thousand drivers every day
About 50 thousand vehicles move daily on the expressway from Sarai Kale Khan to Ghaziabad and Meerut. Till now these vehicles were running without paying toll, but now these drivers will have to pay toll for plying on the expressway. The company that took the contract for toll collection has also taken over the control room at Kashi Toll.
