New Delhi. The Ministry of Road Transport has approved the introduction of toll on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. According to the ministry, around December 15 this month, toll collection will start from vehicles. After levying the toll, there will be a toll of Rs 140 from Sarai Kale Khan to Meerut, then Rs 95 from Indirapuram to Meerut, Rs 75 from Dudahera and Rs 60 from Dasna. This is a toll car. Tolls for bigger vehicles will be higher. Although these rates are proposed, some modification is also possible in it.

The National Highway Authority of India is starting to collect toll without toll plazas on this expressway for the first time in the country. So far this expressway has not been officially inaugurated, but vehicles are running on it since April 1, 2021. The Ministry of Road Transport has approved the collection of toll.

According to the information, toll will be charged at two rates. First, where more underpasses or ROBs have been constructed, there will be a late toll of Rs 2 per km and where less underpasses or roads have been constructed, there will be a late toll of Re 1 60 paise. In this way, the distance from Sarai Kale Khan to Meerut is 72 km, on an average, the driver will have to pay around 140 for this distance. At the same time, the drivers will have to pay toll up to Rs 20 till UP Gate and Rs 50 till Lal Kuan.

Due to non-preparation of six-lane Railway Overbridge (ROB) on Delhi-Meerut Expressway (DME) in Chipiyana (Aligarh Rail Line), till now toll was not being collected from the drivers, but now the ROB has been prepared. Because of this, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) had sought approval for toll collection from the Ministry of Road Transport. The Ministry of Road Transport has given approval. Now toll collection will be started between Sarai Kale Khan to Meerut. According to ministry officials, it may take some time to update the software. Therefore, toll collection will start around December 15.

First expressway to collect toll without toll plazas

DME will be the first such expressway in the country, on which toll will be collected according to the distance. It will also be the first expressway to collect toll from a moving vehicle through FASTag. For this, 130 Automatic Number Plate Reader (ANPR) cameras have been installed on the entire expressway, whose trial is going on for the last three months. For this, an agreement has also been signed with all the Fastag companies.

Toll only on DME

A 14-lane expressway has been built between Dasna and Sarai Kale Khan, with six-lane expressway in the middle, followed by two-lane national highway on both sides and two-lane service road on both sides of NH. . Toll will be charged only if you walk in the lane of the expressway..
