The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Tuesday said the Delhi Metro has helped its commuters save an overall travel time of 269 million hours last year. According to a study conducted by The Energy Research Institute (TERI), the annual commuter time savings will more than double in 2031 to about 572.5 million hours. These figures are also important because the time taken by people on the road while traveling in cities across the country is increasing continuously.

According to the news of New Indian Express, not only this, due to the Delhi Metro, there is also a shortage of vehicles on the roads of Delhi. DMRC helped clear over 5 lakh vehicles daily from the national capital’s roads in 2021. In a statement from DMRC, it was said that this figure is also about 4.74 lakh more than in 2019. Not only this, due to the Delhi Metro has also helped in removing about seven lakh tonnes of pollutants from the atmosphere, as many commuters use the metro keeping their personal vehicles at home.

Delhi Metro has been one of the most responsible organizations when it comes to taking care of the environment. It i.e. DMRC is also a leader in solar power generation with the present capacity of about 37 MW. Delhi Metro has become the first rail-based organization in the world to claim carbon credits due to its unique efforts.

The current duration of the DMRC network is about 392 km with 286 stations, including the Noida-Greater Noida Metro Corridor and the Gurugram Rapid Metro. It is also necessary to mention here that before the Corona period, more than 50 lakh passengers used to travel daily in Delhi Metro.
