Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched the Metro Rail website with world-class facilities inorder to make the journey easier for the passengers traveling by Delhi Metro and to bring government services to the common citizens under the ‘Digital India’ mission.And launched the mobile app. It was inaugurated by DMRC Managing Director Dr. Mangu Singh.

Many new features have been added on the new website and mobile application like interactive route map, advanced station search option, real time first and last train calculator, next and nearest station alerts etc. At the same time, a comparative study of the official websites of major metro systems across the world revealed that the website of Delhi Metro is more convenient and equipped with features than many other metro related websites.

As part of this research process, a team of officers also studied the feedback given by the passengers from time to time and incorporated the necessary improvements. The assistance of an expert team of IT professionals was also taken for the design and maintenance of the website. Various additional efforts have also been made to ensure that websites and mobile applications are protected from virus attacks and can combat them. To ensure this, it is also reviewed from time to time.

DMRC’s mobile app suitable for all types of mobile operating systems like Android and Apple is also available on Google Playstore. The website of Delhi Metro is also bilingual, in which all the features will be easily available in both the languages. For the first time, the website and app of Delhi Metro will be connected to each other in real-time in exchange of information, which will allow the information to be updated simultaneously on both the platforms.

Information such as train operation, passenger fare, time-table, etc., which earlier looked permanent, can now be updated daily. Apart from the phone numbers of metro stations, the numbers of nearest police stations will also be available on the website.
