Security is being tightened in Delhi for the G20 summit. There will be strong security arrangements from IGI Airport to Pragati Maidan. Delhi Police has issued an advisory regarding Delhi Metro for 8-10 September. Know which stations will have service affected during this period?


Final touches are being given to preparations for the G20 summit in Delhi. Adequate security arrangements are being made. Regarding this, Delhi Police has issued orders for the movement of Delhi Metro. Supreme Court metro station of Delhi Metro will remain completely closed on 8-10 September. Metro will run on this route but traffic will remain closed for some time at some stations of the route. Service will also be affected at some places on the Airport Line Metro. Gate number one at IGI Airport will be open for entry-exit. Meanwhile, all the gates of Arrow City station will remain open. On the occasion of G20, see Delhi Police’s advisory related to Metro.

According to the order issued by the Delhi Police, traffic at Moti Bagh, Bhikaji Cama Place, Munirka, RK Puram, IIT and Sadar Bazar Cantonment metro stations will remain closed for 10-15 minutes for security reasons during September 8-10. From here, passengers can neither enter nor exit the metro station. Police have kept Dhaula Kuan, Khan Market, Janpath, Supreme Court and Bhikaji Cama Place metro station in the list of sensitive places.

Service will be affected at 39 metro stations


A stage is being prepared for the leaders of G20 countries in the Bharat Mandapam located at Pragati Maidan. The Supreme Court metro station nearest to the venue will remain completely closed. In total, service at 39 stations will be partially or fully affected. Only a few gates will remain open at some stations. Delhi Police said that as you know that the G20 summit is near in the capital. In such a situation, all security methods are being adopted. Meanwhile, restrictions will be imposed on some stations between 8-10 September.

Get ‘Tourist Smart Card’ from these metro stations

Earlier, Delhi had announced to sell ‘Tourist Smart Cards’ through dedicated counters at 36 stations from September 4-13. A senior official said that these ‘Tourist Smart Cards’ are available on normal days also, but in view of the G20 summit, dedicated counters have been opened which will start selling these cards for a period of 10 days from Monday. The 36 stations where these cards will be sold through dedicated counters include Kashmere Gate, Chandni Chowk, Chawri Bazaar, New Delhi, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan, Lok Kalyan Marg and Supreme Court metro stations.
