Preparations are at the final stage for the G-20 Summit to be held in Delhi in the month of September. During the G-20 Summit, all government offices and schools and colleges in Delhi, including the MCD, will remain closed for three days. Means Delhi will be stalled for three days. Now the question is whether DTC buses will run during the summit or not. What are the rules regarding Metro? Let’s know about it in detail.



Preparations are at the final stage for the G-20 Summit to be held in the national capital Delhi in the month of September. The heads of many countries including America, Britain and Japan will participate in the G-20 conference. Due to the VVIP movement on the roads of Delhi, elaborate security arrangements are also being made.

In view of the G-20 Summit, there will be a public holiday in Delhi from 8 to 10 September. During this, all the government offices and schools and colleges of Delhi including MCD will remain closed for three days. Accordingly, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory for four days in the month of September.

Which services will be exempt

Goods vehicles carrying essential commodities like milk, vegetables, fruits, medical supplies etc. in Delhi will be allowed to enter Delhi with valid No Entry Permit.

Auto-taxis will be allowed to ply on the road network outside New Delhi. However, taxis carrying local residents of New Delhi district and hotels located within the limits of New Delhi district and tourists with valid bookings will be allowed to ply on the road network within the limits of New Delhi district.

Movement of passengers will be allowed till the airport, New Delhi and Old Delhi railway stations. The traffic police advisory said that such commuters are advised to take the suggested alternate routes.

Local residents and authorized vehicles will be provided with the facility for movement within New Delhi. Apart from this, vehicles connected with housekeeping, catering, waste management etc. for hotels, hospitals and other important establishments in New Delhi district will be allowed entry after verification.

Will Delhi Metro be closed?

Apart from this, advisory has also been issued regarding the operation of Delhi Metro. As per the advisory, metro service will be available for passengers on all metros of Delhi. However, Metro service will not be available at Supreme Court Metro station from 5 am on September 9 to 11 pm on September 10.

What are the rules regarding the bus

City bus services will operate on the road network of Delhi’s Ring Road and beyond the Ring Road towards the borders of Delhi. These buses will be allowed to exit Delhi. However, city bus service will not be available in New Delhi area. Inter-state buses will be allowed to enter Delhi during the G-20 Summit and their terminating destination will be Ring Road.
