In view of the pollution situation in the capital, DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) has started preparations to increase the frequency of metro. From Wednesday, Delhi Metro will make more trips than usual, but till now DMRC has not decided how many trips it will increase. The crowd of passengers in the metro has also increased these days.
The crowd of passengers in the metro has also increased these days. On every working day last week, except Sunday and Saturday, more than 67 lakh journeys have been made by passengers (passenger journeys) in the Metro.
CAQM ordered to increase the rounds
In view of pollution, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has directed DMRC to increase metro frequencies under the second phase of GRAP (Graded Response Action Plan) in NCR. So that people can leave private vehicles and travel more in metro.
At present the situation is that there is huge crowd in the metro during morning and evening rush hours. Because of this, passengers are not able to get space in the metro. For this reason also, the need is being felt to increase the frequency of metro.
These three lines are the busiest
Yellow Line, Blue Line and Red Line are the busiest corridors of Delhi Metro. Yet, on some parts of these three corridors, the frequency is more than four minutes during peak hours. Therefore, it is also possible to increase the number of metro trips.
Metro is making 4200 trips every day
DMRC says that when CAQM implemented Grape-2 last year, 71 trips of the metro were increased. After this, even as the number of passengers increased in the metro, DMRC automatically increased the frequency of the metro. Therefore, in the last one year, 230 trips of the metro have been increased. Because of this, at present the metro is making 4200 trips every day.
In view of the instructions given by CAQM this time, an option to increase the frequency of metro is being explored. Tuesday is a holiday due to Vijayadashami. Because of this, there will be less crowd of passengers in the metro. Metro frequencies will be increased from Wednesday.
