1. The Delhi Mumbai Expressway will be the longest expressway in India with a length of 1,386 km.
2. It will reduce travel distance between Delhi and Mumbai by 12 per cent from 1,424 km to 1,242 km and travel time by 50 per cent from 24 hours to 12 hours.
3. The expressway will cross six states Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra and will connect major cities like Kota, Indore, Jaipur, Bhopal, Vadodara and Surat.
4. A toll tax of Rs 90 for a light vehicle and Rs 145 for a light commercial vehicle will have to be paid for the journey up to Khalilpur which is about 20 km from the starting point.
5. If someone travels to Barkapara, he will have to pay a toll tax of Rs 500 for a light vehicle and Rs 805 for a light commercial vehicle. Apart from Khalilpur and Barkapara, toll gates will also be there in Samsabad, Sheetal, Pinan, Dungarpur.
6. From the entry point to Barkapara, seven axle vehicles will have to pay the highest toll of Rs 3215.
7. Vehicles entering from Sohna will have to pay this toll as soon as they alight at Khalilpur Loop located in Western Peripheral.
8. The legal top speed limit on the expressway has been set at 120 kmph.
9. The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway has 40 interchanges which will improve connectivity to Jaipur, Kishangarh, Ajmer, Kota, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Bhopal, Ujjain, Indore, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat.
10. The Sohna-Dausa section will cover a distance of 160 km in Haryana and will pass through Gurugram, Palwal and Nuh districts. This will include 11 villages of Gurugram district, seven villages of Palwal and 47 villages of Nuh district.
The entire project is being built at an estimated cost of Rs 98,000 crore. The expressway is expected to have a positive impact on the development trajectory of the surrounding regions and contribute to the economic transformation of the country.
