DGCA releases winter schedule of flights, 23732 flights will operate from 118 airports.

The winter flight schedule in 2023 is a huge growth from the previous summer schedule of 22,907 weekly flights from 110 airports. Gondia Airport will not be a part of the operation in the winter flight schedule of 2023.


The winter flight schedule for the year 2023 has been released. Releasing this, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has said that under the domestic winter program for the year 2023, there will be a total of 23,732 weekly flights connecting 118 airports. This schedule indicates a strong growth in domestic air travel. The schedule, effective from October 29, 2023, to March 30, 2024, marks a significant improvement after two consecutive years of low domestic flight operations. According to IANS, according to DGCA, one of the extraordinary features of this winter schedule of flights has been a good increase in weekly departures.

Bigger growth than summer schedule

According to the news, this shows a significant growth compared to 22,907 weekly flights from 110 airports in the previous summer schedule. A senior DGCA official said that out of the 118 airports, Bathinda, Jaisalmer, Ludhiana, Nanded, Shivamogga, Salem, Utkela, Hindon and Zero are the new additional airports proposed by the schedule airlines. However, Gondia Airport will not be a part of the operation in the winter flight schedule of 2023. The news said that Alliance Air will operate 914, Air India 2,367, Air Asia 1,457, Indigo 13,119, SpiceJet 2,132, Vistara 1,902, Star Air 247, Air India Express 483, Akasa Air 790 and Pawan Hans 18 extra flights.

Condition of Airlines

According to the airlines, Alliance Air saw 3.04 percent decline, Air India 8.68 percent, Go Air saw 100 percent reduction in operations, Air Asia saw minimum 0.07 percent growth, IndiGo saw significant growth of 14.43 percent, SpiceJet saw 4.82 percent decline. Percentage increase was recorded. Vistara registered a rise of 2.48 per cent, Star Air registered a rise of 5.56 per cent, Air India Express registered a notable rise of 36.59 per cent, Akasa Air registered a rise of 5.19 per cent and Pawan Hans has entered it.

Increasing reach of India’s air travel network

The overall growth in the number of departures for the winter flight schedule compared to the summer schedule is 3.60 percent in the year 2023. There is 8.16 percent growth in the number of departures for winter flight schedule 2023 as compared to winter flight schedule 2022. This figure reflects the increasing reach and availability of India’s air travel network.
