New Delhi: We see many road accidents happening on the roads every day. But, many times no one comes forward to help the victim. The reason for this is that those who help in such cases, then have to wander to the police station, the court. But now, for those who have good intentions and are reluctant to help for such reasons, the government has developed some safety rules. Thus full protection will no longer be given to those who help the victims of the accident.
No police officer or any other person can compel anyone to disclose name, identity, address or such personal details.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has announced rules for the safety of people who help during accidents.
A new section has been added to the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019 (Motor Vehicles Amendment Act 2019) called Good Citizen Protection.
Under the new rule, persons assisting victims of road accidents can no longer be forced to reveal their identities.
They will be treated with respect without any discrimination on the basis of religion, nationality, caste or gender.
Each public and private hospital will publish a charter in Hindi, English and the local language, at the entrance or at any other place and on its website.
