DoT New Order: If you are troubled by spam calls, then your problem is going to be solved soon. Because DoT has ordered the companies to activate the caller ID feature, after which you will know whose call is coming.

DoT New Order: Whether you use a smartphone or a keypad phone, I claim that you will definitely be troubled by spam calls. Actually, you pick up the call from any unknown number thinking that it may be an office call or a job call. In such a situation, many times people also become victims of scamming. If this has happened to you, then now you do not need to worry. Because the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has found a way out of this problem.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has directed all telecom operators in India, including Airtel, Jio, BSNL and Vodafone Idea, to launch the Caller Name Presentation (CNAP) service without any delay. This move will curb fake calls and the call receiver will see the verified name of the caller.

CNAP will be implemented soon

According to a report by ET Telecom, DoT recently convened a meeting with telecom operators, emphasizing the urgent need to implement CNAP technology. Currently in the testing phase, CNAP will allow smartphone users to identify callers by displaying the name associated with the KYC data of the SIM card. However, this service will not be available to 2G feature phone users.

Showing the verified name of the caller can help prevent scammers and significantly reduce fraudulent calls.

SIM card verification will be strictly enforced

Apart from CNAP, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has directed the Department of Telecommunications to further tighten the process of issuing SIM cards. Now telecom companies have been banned from selling new SIM cards without Aadhaar biometric verification. This measure ensures that SIM cards are not issued using fake documents, which helps prevent fraud and unauthorized activities.
