People are not paying the challan online
According to the new rules coming into effect from today, if a person’s online challan is issued and he does not pay the challan within 3 months from the date of challan, then his driving license can be suspended for 3 months. According to media reports, if a person is issued 3 challans in a financial year for breaking the red light and careless driving, then in such a situation also the driving license can be suspended for 3 months. According to reports, the recovery rate of online challan in India is only 40 percent.
There is also a consideration on increasing the insurance premium
Not only this, the government is considering increasing the insurance premium for those who have not paid at least 2 challans from the last financial year. However, the government is also preparing to implement a comprehensive standard operating procedure to find out who has not paid the challan due to late information and error. The government is also considering sending text messages every month to those who are not paying the challan to inform them to pay the pending challan.
The country’s capital Delhi is at the bottom in paying challan
The country’s capital Delhi is lagging behind in the recovery of online challans. Only 14 percent of challans are being paid online in Delhi. 21 percent of challans are being paid online in Karnataka. Whereas 27 percent payments are being made in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. 62 percent of online challan payments are made in Maharashtra. In this, Haryana is at the forefront with a recovery rate of 76 percent.
