The ration card issued by the state government makes families eligible for ration (cereal) under PDS. The government issues different types of ration cards, which are according to the income of the families of the people and accordingly they are given ration on subsidy. This card is not necessary for everyone.
If the ration card is lost or its paper has got damaged due to its old age, then you do not have to worry. You can get a duplicate ration card made in its place. This work can be done offline as well as online.
However, there are different websites for making ration cards in every state and the process there also varies slightly. Suppose you have lost your ration card, then you have to file an FIR in the nearest police station and keep a copy of that FIR with you.
The offline method is this: Visit the DFSC (District Food and Supplies Controller) office in your area. There you will need the Depot Holder Report. Also two passport size photographs of each member of your family and penalty fee will be levied. Sometimes a group photo of the family is also asked for. Now take the form of Duplicate Ration Card, also known as D-Y Form. Fill it and attach depot holder report, two receipts of penalty fee and photograph of each family member. Then submit all these documents to the office there. After verification, you will be informed, after which you will have to go to the office to get your new / duplicate ration card.
This is the online process : Every state has a separate website to get the ration card made. For this, you have to go to the PDS website of the state or the site of the Food Department. You will get the option of registration for new ration card here, click on it. Then fill all the details and submit the application. Later you will get a reference number through which you will be able to check the status of your ration card. After verification, you will be notified by the same portal. After getting the update, go to the website and print your ration card from there and take it out.
